Background
Elementor has quickly become the go-to page builder for WordPress. For many businesses, agencies, and freelancers, it’s now the default way to design and build websites.
Its popularity comes down to one thing: it makes building high-quality websites faster, more flexible, and far more accessible without sacrificing control.
Over the years, Elementor has continued to evolve. But with the release of Elementor 4.0 in April 2026, the platform has taken a more significant step forward.
This isn’t just another update. It’s a structural shift in how websites are built within Elementor.
What is Elementor 4.0?
Elementor 4.0 is a major upgrade focused on improving performance, consistency, and scalability.
Rather than adding more features on top, this update refines the way Elementor works under the hood. The goal is to make websites faster, cleaner, and easier to manage long-term.
For business owners, these changes mean better-performing websites. For agencies, this translates to more efficient builds and fewer ongoing headaches.
What’s Changed in Elementor 4.0
Here are the key changes introduced in Elementor 4.0:
1. A More Structured Layout System
Elementor continues its move away from older column-based layouts to a more flexible container-based system. This allows for cleaner code output, better responsiveness across devices, and more control over layout behaviour.
2. Global Styling Improvements
Styling is now more consistent across the entire site. You can define design rules once and apply them everywhere, which reduces inconsistencies and speeds up design changes.
3. Performance Enhancements
Elementor 4.0 focuses heavily on performance improvements. This includes a reduced DOM size, faster load times, and more efficient rendering. These changes directly impact SEO and user experience.
4. Improved Workflow for Designers and Developers
The interface has been refined to make building pages more intuitive. Small changes here make a big difference over time, especially on larger builds.
5. Better Scalability for Larger Websites
The new structure makes it easier to manage complex websites with multiple templates, pages, and content types. This is particularly useful for growing businesses and enterprise-level builds.
How Will Elementor 4.0 Affect Your Website?
For most websites, Elementor 4.0 won’t require an immediate overhaul. However, the benefits become clear when building new websites, redesigning existing ones and improving performance and SEO.
Older websites built on legacy structures will still work, but they won’t take full advantage of the improvements unless updated.
Our Opinion on Elementor 4.0
Overall, this is a strong step forward. Instead of chasing flashy features, Elementor has focused on refining the core experience. That’s exactly what the platform needed. From our perspective, the biggest wins are:
- Improved performance
- Cleaner, more scalable builds
- Better long-term maintainability
It brings Elementor closer to a more structured, system-based approach, which is how modern websites should be built.
How Clickk is Rolling Out Elementor 4.0
Since this is a major update, we’re taking a measured approach to ensure there is minimal disruptions to your website.
1. Starting with Smaller Websites
We’ll begin by trialling Elementor 4.0 on smaller, less complex websites. This allows us to test real-world performance and identify any bugs within the upgraded platform before rolling it out to larger, more complex builds.
2. Increased QA and Monitoring
Every new site built using Elementor 4 will include higher levels of quality assurance and reviewing prior to launch. It will also include longer, more extensive post-launch monitoring checks. This will help us ensure stability before scaling up and rolling out across our existing websites and larger builds in the future.
3. Updating Internal Processes and Training
To keep the quality of our web builds high, we are training our team internally so that they know how to use the new page builder format effectively and within best practice. We will also hold off on using the new Atomic Form builder until we have thoroughly tested it to make sure that forms are delivered reliably. Once it’s up and running, we’ll add new training videos for clients to our WordPress tutorial library.
4. Gradual Rollout to Larger Builds
When we are sure that Elementor 4.0 is stable, we will start using it on bigger, more complicated websites. This is expected to happen over the next 2 – 3 months.
Should You Upgrade to Elementor 4.0?
If you’re on a managed hosting plan, our team will handle the update for you. This will be rolled out over the next month or so once we are confident about the plugin stability. The update itself shouldn’t affect the existing builds. Then there’s no urgency to upgrade immediately.
Final Thoughts
Elementor 4.0 doesn’t mean starting over from scratch. It’s about improving the current platform and moving forward with best practices for websites. At first, the changes might not seem like much, but they make the platform more reliable, scalable, and ready for the future.
For businesses, that means better websites. For agencies, it means better systems. And in the long run, that’s what actually matters.
